Water Park and at the top of the mountain on our hike on Marlene's Birthday. All that sugar helped!

I liked this photo so much I uploaded it twice!

At the peak! Marlene with her birthday gift, foam soap! They used it all in just one bath, but they were clean!

The Birthday girl, Marlene turns 11 and we eat cake for breakfast!

Allan with our new friend "Bambi". We had some red apples we feed her, I bet they might like the Hedge Apples too!

We found those big hedge apples on the side of the road and dad had to go back and get some. Birthday girl Marlene was the only one who would get out and pick them up.
Alex surfing in the wave pool at the water park!

Massanutten Mini Vacation

The fruit of the Osage Orange - the so-called "hedge apple" - stands out vividly in an autumn treeline.
It is a large, dense, green wrinkled ball up to 6" in diameter that often persists on the tree after the leaves have fallen off. In good years, the branches will bend low with the combined weight of these heavy fruit. They have a sticky, white juice within them.
